New: Special coin Four seasons – Summer
On 11 June 2026, shortly before this magazine went to press, Swissmint launched the “Four seasons – Summer” special coin, the first in the new four-part “Four seasons” series.
The four special coins from the “Four Seasons” series feature the following on the obverse:
- The three months of each season: “giugno, luglio, agosto”, “septembre, octobre, novembre”, “december, schaner, favrer” and “März, April, Mai”;
- The Earth’s position relative to the Sun in the corresponding season;
- The direction of the Sun’s rays;
- The name of the season: “Estate” (summer in Italian), “Automne” (autumn in French), “Enviern” (winter in Graubünden Romansh) and “Frühling” (spring in German);
- A symbol typical of the season (sun, chestnut, snowflake and flower) and a constellation prominent during that season.

The silver coins are tinted to reflect the colours predominant in the season.
The reverse of the special coins also depicts the four seasons. This is achieved using a stylised vegetation cycle: in summer, the stylised plants bloom in all their glory; in autumn, it is harvest time and the plants bear ripe fruit; in winter, the plants are barren, only to grow again in spring.
Obverse
In summer, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted most towards the sun and therefore receives more light and heat during this season. The sun is thus a fitting symbol for this season. A world map centred on Switzerland is delicately outlined within the bright sun’s core. The “Summer Triangle” constellation, typical of this season, is depicted in the bottom left-hand corner. The coin’s edge bears the word “Estate” (summer in Italian), as well as “giugno, luglio, agosto” (Italian for June, July and August).
Reverse
The four seasons are depicted on the reverse of the “Four seasons” series in the form of a stylised vegetation cycle. The section representing summer is raised and polished, with the plant shown here in full bloom. Around the edge of the coin is the face value of CHF 20, the inscription “CONFOEDERATIO HELVETICA”, the minting year 2026 and the mint mark B for Swissmint.
