In the spring of this year, the Mint of Finland closed its gates for the final time.
After 162 years of minting, the Mint of Finland closed in spring. It was known for its high-quality 2-euro coins, but had not managed to get into the markets for regular issue or bullion coins. Aside from Finnish coins, the Mint of Finland also minted the euro coins for Estonia, Greece, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Cyprus and Ireland. These countries, along with the Republic of Finland, now need to shop around for a new coin minting partner.
