It facilitated trade between people, and its use and production quickly spread throughout the Mediterranean and beyond. The permanent exhibition of the MCAH’s Collection of Coins and Medals invites visitors to discover the history of money from its origins to the present day. There is a special focus on the Vaud coin hoards and finds, presented in the context of their discovery. The role of money in today’s world is highlighted thanks to the central module that forges a link between numismatics and economics.

Source:
© Musée cantonal d’archéologie et d’histoire, Lausanne

<picture></picture>

Numismatic Collection,
Bernisches Historisches Museum

The world’s most important collection of Bernese coins and medals.
