An Austrian coin featuring a black hole earned top honours at the 40th Coin of the Year (COTY) Awards. The Coin of the Year Awards is an international competition in which coins from 2022 were honoured in 10 categories.

France

As Napoleon does have quite a bit to do with the Swiss franc, we would like to present the “Le Napoléon” coin. It is the first coin in a French gold trilogy. “Le Napoléon commemorates Napoleon III, who is depicted on the coin. The franc Napoléon was first established by Napoleon I in France, then in many countries as part of his conquests.”

The Royal Canadian Mint has minted new black, rhodium-plated commemorative silver coins. They feature one of the best-known symbols of a historic reign.
